Carson had a blast yesterday with Thomas!! He rode the train and got a bunch of Thomas stuff. When you leave, they make you exit through a huge tent with everything Thomas you can imagine. Needless to say- we came out with a bunch!! Thomas umbrella, Thomas hat, 2 Thomas trains and Arthur the train. He raked in the goodies!! We went last year, but this was much better by far. He would see the train and start screaming!! It's like he was a teenager at a concert! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!!

This summer has been very busy for us. Carson and I went to Texas for Easter and that is when it all began. My parents came out for Brian's graduation and we had a big party for Brian. He has to finish student teaching but not much longer. We see the light at the end of the tunnel!! In June, Brian and Carson went to California and Disneyland to see his Uncle Bill. I met my mom in New York City for a few days and saw the sights. I have to say that is one busy city!! I don't think I'll go back but it was fun. Erica and I went to the "Cake Bosses" Bakery and waited in line for 2 hours. It was good though!!

We are getting ready to go to Gunnison for the weekend for Brian's grandma's memorial service. She passed away in December but we waited until all the family could make it in July. When we get back, we are going to Texas for Brody's first birthday!! I am so excited. I told Carson that we were going and now all he talks about is Brody!! I will update with more pictures when we get back!! I hope everyone is having a awesome summer. I know we are!!

We decided to take Carson to Casa Bonita today. Brian didn't have to work or study so we took advantage. He liked the cliff divers and the puppet show but not the gorilla. The gorilla jumped towards us and ran by our table and his eyes got real BIG!! We were laughing at him. Then the gorilla was done with the show and waved to Carson and he held on tighter. We had a great, quiet weekend. I hope you enjoyed yours!

We went out to let the dogs run today and it was very windy!! We are hoping to go to the park tomorrow if the wind isn't blowing like it is today. Carson had a great time running around and got some energy out with the dogs.

These are pictures from gymnastics today. Fearless is what one mom called Carson! I totally agree with that statement. He is not scared of anything and will get on anything. The other day I was cooking dinner and he was chasing the cat. Next thing I know, he is running across the kitchen table trying to get the cat! He will also jump off the back of the couch on to the floor! I am amazed at this boy!!

He is so crazy about trains and Thomas the Train right now. Everywhere we go he sees Thomas and has to have him! We have trains running out our ears. We went to the resale shop today and he got a big Thomas set and has been playing all day. He will also yell "TV" and that means he wants to watch Thomas.

We are getting very excited about our trip to Texas. We go the first weekend in March for my cousins wedding. I bought Carson the cutest outfit. I told my mom that he is my doll and I play dress up with him! ha!

Brian and I decided to take Carson to the Cherry Creek Mall today. They have an amazing play area in the middle of the mall. We had at California Pizza Kitchen and Carson had cheese pizza-he ate very good!! He doesn't eat well very often so we were excited. We then went and played. He loved all of the stuff he could crawl and jump off of. He would not slide down the slide but instead see how he could jump over it!! He is a boy who is a dare devil!!

It finally snowed here this past week. Last year Carson did not like the snow and cried everytime we tried to put him in it. This year is a different story! He LOVED the snow. He thought it was really funny to make snowballs and throw them at me. I need to buy him a sled. I think he will really like going down the hills!! I have never been sledding so we will both get to try it for the first time.

Brian and I both have decided that we are going to become committed to God. We are going to read the entire bible in 365 days (on the kindle) and join a group at church. We have been enjoying our "comfort zone" for a little too long and we are going to branch out. Carson really enjoys going to church and learning about God. We want to set a good example for him and bring him up in a Godly home. I am trying to teach him "Jesus Loves Me" and it is so cute to hear him say some of the words.

We had an amazing Christmas and enjoyed spending time with the family. As you can see, Carson got a horse and loves it! I will post the video once Brian is finished with it.

Today was a really warm day so I met Jade and Jill at the park. It is supposed to get cold and snow on Thursday so I wanted to get out before it gets too cold! Carson had a great time and then we went grocery shopping.

Thursday is Grace's Angel Day. It has been 4 years since we said goodbye and it feels just like yesterday. I can't believe we have been living our "new normal" life this long. I think about the "what ifs" and what would she be doing, ballet, soccer? What would she like? Babies? What would she look like? Who would she act like? I could go on forever. I will always wonder! We are going to go eat at Cracker Barrel and I'm going to get a pedicure on Thursday. We spend the day together every year in her memory.

We went to another fall festival!! Carson really enjoys getting to run around and see all the animals. He got bit by the duck and thought it was the funniest thing. I told him to not touch it but he was trying to get in the cage with the duck. As soon as we got into the animal area, we were told not to touch the pony. What do you think Carson does first?? Touch the pony!! He picked out a pumpkin and had a blast with the duck races!! We couldn't keep the boys out of the water. Teague led us through the corn maze- it was so cute!! We are gearing up next weekend for Halloween. I have to go to a wedding on Halloween afternoon so Carson is going to go to the Mainstreet Festival with Noelle and then I will be back to take him trick-or-treating! Scott, Kara and Kylie came to visit us this past weekend. We had a blast!! They flew in on Thursday and we went to the fall festival on Friday while the guys played golf. The kids loved the barrel rides. All 3 kids were screaming when they had to get off the ride. Saturday we all went to Boulder and shopped and ate. The guys played golf again on Sunday and we took the kids shopping with us. They left on Monday and Carson has been lost since. He keeps asking where Kylie is- he loved having her around and playing with her. He taught her to jump off the couch and she taught him how to climb in the crib. Thank goodness he won't climb out yet!!

Only 1 month until we are in Texas!! I am excited! Everyone get ready so we can go have dinner or see each other while we are there!!

We went and saw Thomas the Train today. Carson LOVED it!! He said "choo, choo the entire time we were on the train. He also would move his hand in the motion when he said choo, choo. He got a Thomas tattoo on his arm, coloring pages and a bunch of pictures. When we left, he was screaming because he didn't want to leave. This boy LOVES trains!!!

I can't believe that it has already been 2 years! Where has the time gone? Brian and I are so blessed with amazing family and friends who have shared this journey with us. Carson is the love of our lives.

Carson is talking up a storm and will repeat anything you say. He told Kade the other day to shut up. I'm not sure where he got that from because we don't say that. I said if it was a cuss word than I can take credit!!

Carson had a blast at his birthday party. Memaw Sheila and Kade came on Friday and left today. Mimi and Papa Ted are coming this Friday and staying until Tuesday. We had a great time and have to recuperate before my mom and dad get here.

Brody was born July 28th! I am so excited that he arrived safe and sound. Byron and Misty have been through a lot this past year and they deserve this so much! I can't wait to see him. I'm not quite sure when I will get down there but I usually get a picture daily and he is already getting bigger. We will be in Texas for 10 days in November and we will definitely get our hands on him then. I can not wait until we move down to Texas and we are close to Brody. As you can see, we have had a busy weekend. On Friday night Carson and Teague played in the pool together. I bought this pool last summer and forgot that I had it. Carson was more intrigued by the water hose than anything else. He was soaking wet and had a blast.

Bella had her puppies on Sunday morning. She had 3 boys and 1 girl. Two of them are blue roan (like Duke) and 2 are orange roan. Carson wanted to touch them but doesn't have a soft touch! We will go back when they are walking and their eyes are open.

Every night around 7 Carson and Teague play together for about an hour. No matter if they have been together all day, they want to see each other. Sometimes it's the only thing that will calm Carson down. They LOVE to play with each other. Teague got a bubble gun and Carson loved it. He was chasing the bubbles and running around. These boys are so much fun to watch and play with.

Yesterday was Carson's 23 month old birthday!! I can't believe in one month that he will be 2. Where has the time gone?? I am planning his party and it's going to be so much fun. We are going to have the Wonder Pets theme. He loves Lenny, Tuck and Ming Ming!! My little boy is growing up so much. If you tell him something right now, he will say "I know." I must say that alot. I love this little guy so much!

Busy Week

As you can see, we have been a busy family. Last week we went with the youth group to Water World. 46 people went including chaperones. Carson had a blast in the wave pool and was very tired by the time we got home. We left the house at 0800 and got home at 6:30pm. On Saturday we had a block party. We blocked the street off so the kids could run around and pop fireworks. Fireworks are legal in Parker-it just blows my mind that you can do it in your street. On Sunday, we went to watch the Rapids play soccer for July 4th. They have an amazing fireworks show with music. We got to the game and it had been raining all day but we were hoping for sunshine. We barely got any sun but we got drenched. Our jeans were wet from my knee down. Brian ran with Carson in the parking lot and Brian said Carson laughed the entire way.

This photo is represents me alot. Part of the petals are missing from the flower and that is exactly how my heart is. Part of my heart because Grace is not here with us. It is something that I have learned to live with and deal with on a day to day basis.

I had this tile made for my cousins who both lost children. Cathy and Darryl lost Magdalene, Mary, Michael and Martin. Dasha lost Kolby. The four pink and yellow gerber daisies represent Cathy and Darryl's babies and the single yellow Gerber daisy is for Kolby.

I hate that we have to have a memorial wall for our children but I am so glad that we have a place to go. I don't know what I would have done without all the women I have met on my journey. They are all amazing people and I have become friends with several of them. I really enjoy seeing where we have come from and how we are doing now. My core group has since had children and I love seeing them play together.

We met Jade and Teague at the swimming pool this morning. On the weekdays from 9-10, they have toddler time. Carson really enjoyed that time and went down the slide. When all the big kids and the water was going at full speed, he was very hesitant. He sat in my lap and watched the people!!

We went to the pool today. It finally opened and we went with Noelle and Teague. Carson had a blast. We went this afternoon to buy some pool toys and get Carson a swimming shirt. Carson played hard today! He was at Noelle's house and they played in the water/sand table. When he came home, we planted flowers and Carson was covered in dirt because the wind was blowing. He then started eating the dirt and was putting it in his pockets. We came in about 7 and he took a bath. Carson loves his baths!!!

I guess you can tell that our camera is working. Brian was playing around with it the other day and it started taking pictures. Thank goodness because I did not want to repair it. It probably would be cheaper to just buy a new one??

This weekend the pool opens and we are very excited. We are going to go to the pool on Saturday and then swimming lessons at 11:30. We are going to go to PJ's on Monday for a BBQ and relax. What is everyone doing this long weekend?

Before I get to the fun stuff we have been doing- my camera broke! Ugh!! I'm not sure if we are going to fix it or get a new one. Until then, we won't be having any pictures.

Carson is taking swimming lessons at the recreation center on Saturdays. I have to get in the water with him and he blows bubbles, kicks his feet, goes under water and went down a big slide today. I tried to find a picture online but I had no luck. The slide is 3 stories tall and went in 3 circles on the way down. He had a blast!! I had to tell him that the slide was closed because we would still be there going down the slide!

We bought Carson's birthday present this week. Go here to see what we bought. We are so excited and can't wait for him to play on it. It should be here in the next 2 weeks. Yes we are really early with his present but we wanted him to enjoy it this summer and then we will bring it in and put it in the basement for the winter.

The lights to our room were controlled right above the bed. Carson turned them on and off about a thousand times a day!
Brian, Misty and Matt all wore green one night to dinner. We were all laughing because it was not planned!
This is what I ate for dessert every night. It was DELICIOUS!! Chocolate melting cake with 2 scoops of ice cream. How I would love to have some right now.

Uncle Byron took Carson swimming. He loves the water. I signed Carson up today to start swimming lessons next Saturday. The class is called Mommy and Me. I have to get in the water with him and the class is 30 minutes long. I know he is going to love it!!
This was one huge beer that Brian drank. We tried to bring the container with us but they wouldn't let us back on the ship with it.

Ready for Vacation

Can you say attitude?? Carson loves to throw a fit when he does not get his way. I will look at him and say enough and he will usually stop. Sometimes, I laugh and I know it's going to backfire on me!
Carson putting his shoes on that his Mimi got him last summer. She got him Reef sandals and he is able to wear them now. We are going to take them on the cruise with us next week.
This is Carson's new stroller that we got yesterday. I wanted something to take with us on the cruise. I didn't want to take his big stroller and I wanted something that would shade his eyes and recline. He LOVES his new stroller. I couldn't get him out of it so he sat in it in the house for about 30 minutes after we came in.
I have started to get Carson's clothes ready for the cruise. We had to buy almost all new clothes for him because we did not have anything in 18 months for the summer. We have a ton of long sleeves and jeans but he would burn up in Jamaica, Grand Caymans and Cozumel.

Carson was eating some candy he got in his Easter basket and he loves it! Smarties are his new favorite candy! He will make sounds and say "mmm."

Carson loves to rearrange the refrigerator. He will take everything out of the door compartments and put it all back. He does not like yogurt but will bite the tops off and lick it like he likes it. Crazy boy!

We are leaving on Saturday and won't get back until the following Sunday. I'm sure we will have tons of pictures and stories to tell. I can't wait!!

Remembering Jillian Ellen

Today is Jillian's 2nd angel day. I met Jenny at a MISS meeting before she lost Jillian. Jillian was diagnosed with Trisomy 18 when Jenny was pregnant. I hate that we met this way but she is a awesome friend. We have a ton of similarities. See below: (I took this from Jenny's blog).

Park Day

We went to the park today and Carson had a blast. He loves to go on the slide, swing and go up any stairs that he sees. He sometimes gets knocked over by the bigger kids but gets right back up and keeps going. It finally got into the 50's and was a gorgeous day. We are going to definitely go again today!

When I change Carson's diaper his name is on the wall above the changing table. I ask him to spell his name and he will get up and point to the letters as I say each one. I just had to capture it because it is so cute!! He is getting so big!

I put Carson down for his afternoon nap yesterday and then went outside to clean up the backyard. When I came back in after about 30 minutes I thought he was asleep. I sat down on the couch to watch tv and then I heard him talking. I left him in his room for about another 15 minutes and then I heard him jumping up and down. I finally went in to get him and he was all smiles. I am hoping that he is not done with naps!! He normally takes between 2-3 hours and he needs it! I guess I will have to wait and see what happens today.

Carson does not really care for the snow. He went out with me this past weekend to shovel the driveway but was not really happy about it. He started screaming when we were outside because he fell down and did not stop screaming for 30 minutes. He is definitely a warm natured boy!!
I was talking on the phone to Jill and this is how I found Carson after I could not find him. He had his shirt half off and was running around with his hanger.

Where has the time gone?? I can't believe that Carson is already a year and a half old! My little boy is getting big. We are going to celebrate tonight and go out to eat. Not sure where yet, but definitely something yummy! Carson is starting to talk and sing. He loves the Wonder Pets and can sing the theme song. I'm sure you wouldn't understand a word he is saying but it is so precious! We were eating dinner last night and Brian and I were singing The Wheels on the Bus go Round and Round and doing the motions and Carson was cracking up! He also does the motions put makes the sounds too. He likes it when you sing about the teacher and the babies. When we stop, he will start crying so you will sing it again.

Carson is in this stage of picking his nose. Brian thinks it's hilarious but I can't wait until we are out of it!! I asked a friend about it and her little girl also did it so I know there is hope.
Carson was doing the motions for the teacher on the bus telling us to "shush."

This is what Carson got for Valentine's Day. He loves books and puzzles. I also got him crayons because he is starting to color!! I can't believe my baby is getting so big. I also got him this shirt from Macys because it was a killer deal!! He will be able to wear it when we go on the cruise.

These are the new earrings that Carson and Brian got me today. I love them-they are James Avery. I lost my other earrings and wanted something that I can wear all the time. I really like them.
Last week when my brother was here, I got a new Iphone and I surprised Brian and got him one also. That was his Valentine present because he didn't think he was going to get anything. He loves it!! In church today, he was looking up the bible verses online. He is crazy!!

Doesn't Carson look cute in his jersey!! Brian loves watching the Nuggets play and got Carson this jersey. I have to say that he is the cutest!!

Last night we went to eat at Red Lobster for dinner and Carson was so funny. He finally learned how to do high five. He doesn't say it, but will give you a high five and crack up. He had the table next to us laughing hysterically. He is also counting. He can count from 1-6 and usually gets all the numbers right. I have no idea where he picked this up. He is also singing The Wheels on the Bus go round and round. He does the motions and I just love it!! You can ask him what the teacher does and he will put his finger by his mouth and say "shush, shush." This is such a fun age!!

Go, Go, Go

Byron came in town this past weekend and we went!! He got here on Friday night and we went and ate at Chilis. We didn't get home until about 10 and Carson was exhausted. I had to wake him up on Saturday so we could get ready for Breckenridge. We went to Breck- shopped and had a late lunch. We then came home and went to a Avalanche game. Carson saw his first hockey game. He really wasn't interested in the game, but the girl with the french fries behind us. He would magically have a fry and she was feeding him!! We got home at 11:45 and Carson slept on Sunday until 10:00. He has never slept that late. We went to the mall and then came home and relaxed watching the football game. We were sad to see Byron go because we had a great time. I can't wait until we are closer and get to spend more time with them.

Don't you just love his new outfits!! I love dressing him up. I originally thought only girls were fun to dress but boys are too!!

Carson had a ear infection this week and it was no fun. We went to the doctor on Tuesday when he had a fever of 103. I took him in and sure enough he had a ear infection. He slept okay Tuesday night but Wednesday night he cried the entire night! I was up from 12-6 and I was exhausted. I stayed home with him on Thursday and we went back to the doctor. They gave us some miracle ear drops that numb his ear and he has slept the entire night since. I'm so glad they gave us the drops. I don't know how much more I could last staying up at night.

Uncle Byron is coming next weekend and we are excited. I think we are either going snowmobiling or skiing. We will have to wait and see what he wants to do.

Carson ate spaghetti for the first time the other night and he loved it!! He is eating so much more variety and it's great. His favorite fruit right now is kiwi, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries and bananas. I go to the market to get fresh fruit so he is always trying something new. He is drinking pomegrante juice (mostly water with a splash of juice) and loves his milk!!

Carson loves riding in the wagon. He was spoiled when we were in Texas because Mimi and Papa Ted took him all the time. In the summer, we ride in the wagon everyday.

Where to begin.... The week of Christmas we had Christmas on Monday night with Brian's parents, Tuesday night just us and we left for Texas on Wednesday at 4:00 am. We went to my grandma's house and stayed until the day after Christmas. Carson had more fun ripping the paper than he did opening the presents. I can't wait until next year when he gets more involved. We went to my mom's house and my aunt Sheila came down and stayed with us for the week. We went shopping everyday and Carson was a trooper! Brian and I got to go on a date night and we saw Blindside. If you haven't seen it, you definitely need to go.

We came home on January 3rd and celebrated Brian's birthday on the 4th. We went to dinner and had a good time. I decided to step down from the Nursing Director Position and be a staff nurse. I am very excited about having a day off a week. I am going to be more of mommy and wife and I can't wait! Carson is only going to be little once and he needs his mommy. My New Year's Resolution this year is to simplify!! I am definitely on my way and look forward to what 2010 has to offer.

Today is Grace's 3rd Angel Day and it was very peaceful. I went and got a massage this morning and then Brian, Carson and I went to eat at Cracker Barrel and then the Butterfly Pavilion. Grace was going to have butterflies and flowers in her room and I kept the meaning after she died. Little did I know that her life was just like a butterfly. Come into your life very briefly, but leave footprints and a huge impact on all of us. I can not get the pictures to load so I will try again tomorrow.

We have been having a blast these past few weeks. Last weekend we went to a pumpkin patch so Carson could get his own pumpkin. He ran through the fields and played with the dirt more than the pumpkins. He enjoyed the swings and rides at the pumpkin patch. This weekend we went to the park with Jill and Jade. Carson had a blast and loved running everywhere. He enjoys the swings the most. He laughs so hard and is such a blast. We went to Corinne's in the afternoon and Carson played with her kids. Carson was exhausted at the end of the day and took a afternoon nap. I couldn't get him to go to sleep last night and he finally went down at 9:30. Bedtime is at 8:00 and usually he is ready to go.

Everyone must think that I have quit doing updates. Really it's just been a crazy last two weeks. My brother collapsed at work on 9-22-09 and I flew down to be with my family. They are not sure what happened but he now has a defibrillator and is doing well. He got a infection in his arm and was released today. We are going back to Texas on Thursday for Byron and Misty's wedding. Carson is the ring bearer and I'm so excited. The wedding is on the beach and this will be Carson's first time at the beach. Noelle and I are going to take the boys to more fall festivals and pumpkin patches. They both had a great time and it was so cute to see them running together.

Carson is getting so big! We are changing today from formula to whole milk. Wish me luck. I don't think that I will have a problem because he is so easy going. As long as I put it in his bottle he will drink anything! We have not taken him for his 12 month appointment yet because he had bronchitis and I was waiting for him to get better. I am going to schedule it this week so we can get his shots over! He is talking up a storm and very verbal. He will immediately let you know if you have made him mad. He is saying da da , moma, baba. He is walking everywhere and into everything. He opens up cabinets and slams them. He doesn't care what is in them as long as he can slam the door!! He likes to eat dog food when he can get it. I constantly have to watch him when the dogs are fed so that he doesn't get some too!! He likes to be chased. He will come up to you and turn around and run and exept you to go after him. He is so much fun!! He has brought so much joy in our lives!

In October we will be going to Texas for Byron and Misty's wedding. Carson is the ringbearer and I can't wait to see him walk down the aisle. The wedding is on the beach so I'm anxious to see what he does in the sand. It has been awhile since we were down and I'm excited to see everyone. We will be going to B&J's in Calallen on October 8th at 6:30 if anyone would like to come. We would love to see you there!!

Giraffes have the longest tongues!! They were licking everything. We had the crackers to feed them and Carson wanted to eat them. We had to feed the giraffes very quickly!

Carson loved riding the carousel. When it started, his expression had me laughing so hard I had tears running down my face.

We had a great time today. We were at the zoo for 4 hours and we got a great workout. The zoo is on the side of a mountain and it is continous up and down the entire time!! Brian and I were exhausted by the time we left. If you ever get a chance to go to Colorado Springs-I would definitely go to the zoo!

I had to post this so you will know what my house looks like after Carson is done playing at the end of the day. I have stepped on so many toys and I don't even notice it anymore. Although this picture makes it look kind of clean-if you can believe that.

Carson loves to play in his room. He plays by himself all the time. We have toys in every room so that he always has something to do. He never gets bored.

We are ready for football. Carson is going to his first college football game on September 12. UT is playing Wyoming and we are going to have a blast. We are sitting with a bunch of friends who went to Wyoming.

Our baby is one year old!! Where has the time gone?? It seems like yesterday that I was at work and got the call. I was frantically trying to get Brian because he was in class and he would not answer his phone. I was flipping out!!! This has been the best year ever! Brian and I have been so blessed by Carson and we are loving every minute of it. Everyone says that Carson is lucky but really we are the lucky ones. We had a bunch of people over for his party and it was so much fun. Carson did not smash his cake very much so we saved it and are going to take another go at it tomorrow. We have been extremely busy this weekend. On Saturday we went to the Rowan Tree Butterfly Release in the morning. The ceremony was awesome and so many babies were remebered!! We let butterflies go and watched them fly around while the kids played. After that, we went to a awesome breakfast at the Pinery. We had really good food!! Then in the afternoon, we went swimming. Swimming is becoming a weekly event and Carson LOVES the water!!

Today we went to Lily's third birthday party. A bunch of animals were there for Carson and all the kids to pet and play with. We had a Llama, Alpaca, goat, bunnies, chickens, horse, ducks and he got to ride the horse. The kids loved all the animals. We had a great time and now Carson is down for his afternoon nap. We are going to hang out the rest of the day and go on a walk when Brian gets home.

We took Carson swimming today and he loved it. He loves the bath so I knew that it would be no problem. It was very hot so we didn't stay very long, but it still made him very tired!! We will definitely be going back very soon!

Rowan Tree Foundation is an all volunteer organization that works to support families after the death of a child during pregnancy, or after they are born. Isolation accompanies this sort of loss, and parents and friends need to know there is a place they can go to be heard, to read, to connect, and most of all, to realize they are not alone.

We're working this summer to increase our reach around the globe, and one of the ways we are connecting to new folks is through facebook. As everyone knows my mom left today. I hate it when she leaves. It just leaves me in the most depressed mood and I don't want to be bothered!! We had a awesome time and Carson loved it so much. Memaw Sheila was here and she left also and the house is very quiet! Carson got a bunch of clothes, a wagon and a horse to ride. He loves everything that he got and has played with all of it. I'm loving dressing him up everyday because he gets to wear something new. I cleaned out his closet and put all of his new clothes to hang up.

We had a good day today. Brian was off so we decided to go to the zoo. I think everyone had the same idea because it was packed. Today is our 6th year anniversary and Carson's 9 month birthday. We wanted to celebrate both and hang out as a family. It doesn't seem like we have been married that long. What a road we have been on. It's been an amazing 6 years and I hope many more to come!!

Carson is the best greeter of all times. I had a day from heck and I went to Noelle's to pick him up and he has the biggest smile and hug to give to me. I just love coming home to him. He is awesome. As we were leaving Noelle's she told me that Carson made me a Mother's Day present. It just made me feel so good inside because this is the first Mother's Day with a living child. When we got home, I looked in the bag and I had 2 pictures, a card and a handprint with a poem. I started crying and could not get ahold of myself. Sitting here now typing this about 5 hours later- I'm still tearing up. I have to say- this is going to be my best mother's day ever!! We have had another long week. Carson has been sick and there is nothing we can do about it. We have done a bunch of steam showers, booger sucking and lots of loving!! This yucky mess in his lungs is finally starting to break up. He was blowing snot bubbles this morning and I was so happy. I am glad that it is starting to come up. We went to the doctor and urgent care this week. Poor little guy!!

These are pictures from today when I took him outside. It has been raining all weekend and we have been in the house. I wanted to try and keep him calm but that is really hard with a 8 month old. We are going to hang out again today and hope that he is almost well!

How my week started!

What a week it has been. It started last Saturday night with Carson throwing up twice. He didn't act like he was sick and he was fine by Sunday morning. We went out to eat with some friends on Sunday night and within 30 minutes of being home I started throwing up. At 1 in the morning, I woke Brian up and we went to the ER. I was about to pass out from throwing up and being dehydrated. They gave me 3 liters of fluid and a bunch of meds. While we were there, Brian was also sick and admitted also. We were a pair!! So, we went home on Monday early morning and slept all day. On Tuesday, I was on my way to work, not feeling well at all and I rear-ended a man. Thank goodness he was very nice. It was my birthday on top of it and thankfully I did not get a ticket.

Erica came in on Friday and we had a great time. We ate, shopped, ate, shopped and slept. Carson was such a trooper and went with us all weekend. She went back to Texas today and it was such a fast trip. She is coming back in August for Carson's birthday and we are excited. I am hoping for a much better week. We start doing cases tomorrow and I'm excited!!

We had our first visit to the ER on Sunday night. Carson had been running a fever but I thought it was from his teeth. I had been giving him Tylenol and it seemed to work. Brian came home on Sunday night and Carson started screaming and moaning in pain. He felt warm so we gave him so more Tylenol and he continued to not act like himself and you couldn't touch or move him. He had been shaking his head from side to side but I thought he had learned something new. Mommy feels really bad!!! We let the medication settle for about 45 minutes to an hour and I checked him again and he had gone from 101 to 103.9. I about flipped out!!! Brian and I packed up and sat in the ER for 4 hours. They gave Carson Ibuprofen when we got there and it worked wonders!! He then entertained everyone while we were waiting. We found out that he had a ear infection and they gave us that fun pink bubble gum medication!! We got home about 1:00 in the morning. He is feeling much better and shaking his head less. Needless to say, I will definitely know what he is doing next time.

For the fun stuff- Can you see Carson's new 2 bottom teeth? He has been chewing on everything and it hurts when he bites you! He loves to put my fingers in his mouth and chomp.

We are so excited our adoption is complete and we don't have to attend any more meetings. I'm not sure if you know, but we had to have 6 post placement visits and it gets hard to attend. Between Brian's schedule and mine it was crazy! We can just relax and be a happy family. Thank you to everyone who has supported us this last year. We started the adoption process January 2008 and it seems like it took forever. When I look back though, it really went fast.

This is Carson's new face that he is doing. It is hilarious!! He breaths really hard through his nose and makes a funny sound. Brian can do it back to him and they go back and forth. One night they did it for an hour. His personality is just so dang cute!

Guess what else he is doing---sleeping in his own crib in his bedroom. I got sick this week and he stayed with my in-laws for two nights. The first night he slept from 10-7:30 and didn't take a bottle. He normally gets up every 2 hours and eats 4 ounces. So, when he came home he went straight to his crib to sleep!! I was so excited. I loved having him sleep with us but I now know that he wasn't sleeping that good. He slept last night from 9:30-8:30 this morning and only got up once. He was only awake for about 5 minutes and was fussing. He is on a good routine now that he is sleeping in his crib. He gets up between 7:30-8 most mornings and goes down for a 3 hour nap at 11. He probably could have gone to his crib sooner but I just wasn't ready to let him go!!

Sorry that I haven't updated the blog!! My dad and grandma have been wanting more pictures of their little man so here is more of him. My brother, Misty and my mom flew in this week and we have been touring Denver. We went to the Coors brewery, Red Rocks and tomorrow we are going to the zoo. I will put those pics up and more!!

New adventure

I got this crazy idea that I needed to make Carson's baby food homemade. I thought that it was going to be hard and time consuming but actually it was really easy and fast. I made sweet potatoes tonight and tomorrow I'm going to make carrots.

I cooked the sweet potatoes in the oven and then let them cool. After that I skinned the potatoes and mashed them in a bowl. I then pureed them and got them to the consistency that I wanted. I used formula and a tiny bit of water. After that I poured them into the ice trays and they are in the freezer. Tomorrow I will pop them out of the ice trays and put them in labeled baggies and they are ready to eat!! I hope he likes it! The 2 potatoes made 2 ice cube trays full and he is only eating about 1 ice cube size right now. He is still preferring his formula but we are trying to get him to eat more. He was only doing about 1-5 spoonfuls but now he eats about 1/2 a container of food.

I will keep you updated on how everything goes and what other kinds of food I try to make.

I can't believe that it is already 2009!! This has definitely been an exciting year and I hope that 2009 is just as good to us. The outfit that Carson is in is for Papa Ted (my dad). We got it at Cracker Barrel when we were in Texas. My mom, brother and his girlfriend are coming up in 2 weeks and Brian and I are excited to see them. We are going to go snowmobiling in the mountains and show them around Denver.

This picture makes me laugh because I was pushing the sounds on the book and his eyes were huge!!
This is his first feeding and he ate sweet potatoes. He was not sure what to think but then I couldn't get them in fast enough before he started getting mad. We have since purchased a high chair and he enjoys eating. We had to buy the high chair because he can almost get out of the bumbo seat.
This picture is from today and he was a happy boy. We had just got back from taking the dogs on a walk. Let me just say- it was a fast one because it was just me, the dogs and Carson. My dogs are not the best on leashes and we were the ones being walked- not the dogs!!

National Grief Week

This is National Grief week and I would like for everyone to remember all who are not here with us now. I miss Grace everyday and think about her every minute of the day. I so wish she were here to play with Carson and fight with each other. It is so hard to lose a child because it just never gets easier. I will always have apart of my heart missing. The poem below is something that I got from one of my MISS mommies.

You can shed tears that she is gone,
Or you can smile because she lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back,
Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see her,
Or you can be full of the love that you shared.

Santa Claus

We took Carson this afternoon to see Santa and he was very good! He smiled and talked for us and he was such a happy baby.

What a week!

I wrecked my car this week. I'm fine but I have to put it in the shop tomorrow and it will be there all week. I was taking the dogs to go play on my way to work and I slid on some ice and down in the ditch we went! I hit a stop sign and dented the right side. They have to replace the right side panel and fender and repaint the right side of the car. I'm just thankful that we were not hurt!!

Enjoy all the pictures of Carson. He is getting so big!! He loves to jump in his jumparoo and screams when he does it! He also can roll over from his stomach to his back. I will update more about his progress on the 17th when he turns 4 months old! I can't believe how fast he is growing!!

PS- The picture with Carson and his hat on is one of my favorites! We had just got home from the grocery store and it was snowing outside with the temperature at 4 degrees! It's freezing up here!!!
