You are caught up in adoption if

I stole this from another blogger. All of these are so true for me especially #5!

1. The fact that there are 143 million children without a parent to kiss them goodnight has ever made you lose sleep.
2. You realize DNA has nothing to do with love and family.
3. You can't watch Adoption Stories on TLC without sobbing.
4. The fact that if 7% of Christians adopted 1 child, there would be no orphans in the world is convicting to you.
5. You spend free time surfing blogs about families who have experienced the blessing of adoption.
6. It drives you crazy when people ask you about your adopted child's "real" parents.
7. You have ever been "pregnant" with your adoptive child longer than it takes an elephant to give birth (2 years!)
8. You had no idea how you would afford to adopt but stepped out in faith anyway knowing where God calls you He will provide.
9. You have ever taken a airplane ride half way around the world with a child you just met.
10. You believe God's heart is for adoption.
11. You realize that welcoming a child into your heart and family is one of the most important legacy's you could ever leave on this earth.
12. You shudder when people say your child is so lucky that you adopted them, knowing full well you are the blessed one to have them in your life.
13. You know what the word Dossier means and you can actually pronounce it!
14. You have welcomed a social worker into the most private parts of your life.

Not good enough

Wow- 2 posts in one day but I have to get this out. We were turned down by yet another birthmom- the one in Denver. I told Brian that we must not be good enough because we are on our what seems like 20th birthmom. I don't know how people do multiple adoptions in the United States. There are so many children that need to be adopted and have a good home yet they make the process almost unbearable.

I found this poem and it is something that helps keep me going.

Not flesh of my flesh,
Nor bone of my bone,
But still, miraculously my own.
Never forget for a single minute,
You didn't grow under my heart,
But in it.

~Fleur Conkling Heyliger

A bunch at once

Well, we currently have 3 birthmoms looking at our profiles. Who knows- maybe we will get 3 kiddos- NOT!! They are all in Oklahoma and due in September 19, late October and November 8th. Who knows if any will pick us but I sure hope so!! I just keep praying that God will give us what we can handle. All of these children are either half African American or 3/4ths African American and I am going to need some major help on the hair!! I have a hard time doing my own, little less someone elses and African American.

I'm hoping to have some news next week, but these birthmoms just aren't on any time schedule. We basically just sit and wait for them to take their sweet time. Come on Birthmom PICK US!!!

Sushi, Democratic National Convention and adoption update

Sushi- Can you believe that I ate sushi?? I went out on Friday night with some friends at a sushi restaurant and I had some. It was called a Philadelphia roll. It had salmon, cream cheese, avocado, seaweed wrap and sticky rice. I'm not too sure about the texture of the seaweed wrap. We had a great time and laughed the entire night. We got to the restaurant at 6:30 and did not leave until 10:30- amazing friends!!

Democratic National Convention- If you watch tv than you know that the convention is being held here in Denver. A friend of mine has a friend who works for Xcel Energy and they are a big donor for the convention. We got tickets for Sunday night to a concert to see Sheryl Crow, Sugarland, and Dave Mathews. The concert was awesome!! They didn't talk much politics- just about how to recycle, "Go Green."

Adoption Update-We have 2 birthmom's looking at our profiles in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I am waiting to hear what the agency has to say. I'm not sure when they are going to make a decision but I hope they hurry up!! It is so hard to wait! As soon as we hear, I will update.

Patience

It is very hard to have patience!! I'm trying to keep myself busy and do a lot because I know when we have a baby that I won't be able to go and do as I please.

We have 2 birthmom's right now and we are waiting for a answer from both. No, we are not getting 2 kids at the same time. Our agency is allowing us to be in 2 places at once so we are upping our odds. Hopefully we will have a answer by late today or early next week from the birthmom here in Denver and I have no idea when the birthmom from Vegas will make her decision.

Please remember and sign up for the Walk to Remember!! We are getting close to the event and everything is coming together.

Adoption challenges

Our agency called yesterday and said that they had a birthmom in Ohio that was having twins!! Well, Brian and I went back and forth about what to do. We finally decided to move forward and if it was meant to be than it would happen. We told our adoption agency and they told me in the same sentence that she had already picked adoptive parents.

The agency in Ohio did not tell our agency that they needed our profile ASAP. Needless to say that we are going to have to make much faster decisions. It wasn't even 24 hours and she had made a decision. This was our 4th birthmom and it just gets frustrating!!

I'm not quite sure that we will do domestic again if we are given the chance. I do not like that they choose the family for their child to grow up in off of a piece of paper. I know that they say it's nothing personal but you feel rejected! I know that many more people are out there, but it gets old when you get the same news. When we actually do get picked, I probably will have stroke and pass out! You have no control over anything and it just sucks!!!
